Our episode on Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond brought up the “video nasties” list, which was part of a particularly absurd media censorship situation in the United Kingdom, starting in the 1980s. This week, we dig into what the “video nasties” were, and why they’re relevant to the type of thing we like to talk about here on our show. This also serves as an intro to next week’s episode, on 2021’s Censor, a Welsh film dealing directly with the “video nasties” era.
