Description

If your definition of women’s health begins and ends with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, today's episode is here to broaden your horizons.

Troy and Jeremy are fresh off their trip to the 2023 HLTH Conference in Las Vegas where women’s health was a popular topic. This month, they invited Emily Brainerd, National Practice Leader for Physical and Emotional Wellbeing Consulting at Gallagher, to explore the ever-changing world of workplace wellbeing and women's health.

Together, they uncover how organizations are stepping up to support women's physical and emotional health, and they discuss topics like genetic testing, personalized health and wellbeing resources, and why a focus on diverse women’s and LGBTQ+ resources is essential.

Quotes:

“I think historically we always talked about Breast Cancer Awareness month and that was women’s health. I think we’re absolutely still focused on cancer screenings and preventative care in that capacity, but women’s health is just so much more than that and we’re finally starting to take note of it and see employers take note of it.”

“Probably one of the best opportunities that we've seen is saying, ‘Let's sit down and listen more about what the women in the workplace want.’”

“Should we be providing specific programming resources in our wellbeing programs, in our healthcare, in our benefits to women? Should we be thinking about it differently? I think the answer that we're starting to see is a resounding ‘Yes’.”

“Now we're looking at women's health, and we're really giving the attention to women's health that we should be.”

“When we think about preventive care, we think about Total Health, it's driving those resources at the right time for the people that we work with.”

“We definitely love working with Navigate and making a central hub for all of those resources to be in place where the end user just has to be told to go to one location, one website, one app, and have the information at their fingertips when they need it.”

“I think as leaders we need to recognize that women might just need a little bit more help standing up for themselves and feeling confident in promoting themselves.”

“Let's talk to the women in the workplace. Let's create a communication channel for them to share their opinions, share their struggles, share their needs, their interests, and then take that into consideration and figure out what's going to be best for your culture.”
