Cheryl has 2 sons – William who is 14 and Stanley who is 7. William is a self-professed ‘geek’ who loves history and playing games, Stanley is full of energy and wants to be Bear Gryls! They have a love / hate relationship like most siblings, but where their situation is slightly different to most, William has autism.  

We talk to Cheryl about: 

• What the signs were that indicated that William may be autistic. 
• Why it’s important to look at the whole picture. 
• How children (especially girls) can mask symptoms as they grow older.  
• Stimming – what this is and why children on the autistic spectrum might do it. 
• What it was like to receive William’s diagnosis. 
• Her hopes for Williams future and what she would say to someone who just received a diagnosis.
