Fengru Lin joins to share about TurtleTree. TurtleTree is a 4 year old biotech company producing milk and milk ingredients through precision fermentation. They program microbes to produce high-value proteins, just like an animal would, but without going through the animal. In 2023, they are releasing their first B2B product, which is a powerful precision fermentation-derived lactoferrin, dubbed LF+. This is a bioactive milk protein that nutritionally enhances not only plant-based foods but every single food product.
Fengru shares about her founding journey, looking for high-quality milk ingredients for her cheese-making hobby. This is when she discovered the harsh realities and problems faced within the dairy industry and how these impact the nutrition and quality of food as well as the health of the planet. Recognizing the need for change, she joined forces with Chief Strategist and co-founder Max Rye to revolutionize milk production and set up TurtleTree in Singapore. TurtleTree soon became a global start-up, adding operations near the dairy talent hub around the University of California, Davis. They are running as a lean multi-national, R&D start-up, straddling the Pacific and bringing fantastic technology to market.
