The 80/20 Principle or Pareto Principle says 80% of your results come from 20% of your activities.
I believe its even more skewed than that. That most are doing very few things that are leading to the actual life they want. Leading them to "the best version of themselves"
Meaning most of what you do throughout the day is actually a distraction.
Most of what you are doing is taking you farther from your goals or the life you want.
Dr. Marshall Goldsmith says, "If we do not create and control our environment, our environment creates and controls us.”
We live in a world of constant distraction, constant infiltration on your time, your attention, constantly pulling you away from what you want.
This is the airplane concept, which says that an airplane spends 90% of the time course-correcting, for head winds, tail winds, turbulence pulling it off course.
It's a very simple 2 step process:
1. Tell me your goal.
2. Show me your calendar.
Are the tasks/ activities on your calendar in alignment with the goal? If not fix it immediately. Create Values around your goal, why it's important to you. So you can choose tasks and activities that are in alignment with your goal.
