Description

As business owners and leaders we all stress out when someone leaves our business – we think we've failed, we ask what could we have done differently and how can we keep them?

The reality is sometimes turnover is a good thing, a healthy thing and actually good for business.

Perhaps the person has outgrown the role – and staying would hold them back and they’d become stale and resentful. Maybe it’s just time – they are no longer keen to be here and that’s ok.

Our team also go through phases and stages of life – what worked then won’t work now and they may need to move on for this reason.

Or it could be because they don’t want to learn, grow or develop and are resistant to change, this can be incredibly difficult to manage.

I often question whether too much stability sometimes a bad thing?

Having to refill a role and bringing someone new in allows for fresh perspectives and ideas, it builds new skills and knowledge.

Finally it gifts us a great opportunity to reassess and realise you need something new in the role now.
