64, 7-4, SHOW NOTES & COPYRIGHTS,
Today we will read and discuss poems about my need to be open to God through my day, throughout my life: what do I have to offer to God’ and finally thoughts I on the way to church one Sunday. All of the poems are from Living In God’s Rhyme.
Just a side note for the show notes: in one of my radio interviews I was asked what my favorite Bible verse was; I answered, “The last one I read.” And today if you were to ask me which is my favorite of the three books, I would say, “The one we are reading and discussing on the podcast.” Yup, some days that could be 3 favorites.
DRAW ME CLOSER (PG. 122)
Dear Lord, draw me closer to you
In all I desire in all I do.
Lord, open my heart to your Holy Spirit,
Your spirit that dwells within me.
Lord, I do not want to knock on the door
So that you may open it for me,
I want the door to always be open.
I never want it to close.
Those moments when we share
My prayers and your answers
Are special moments I pray
Will never end, but continue
Throughout my day.
With the door open
I allow you to lead me from temptation,
I allow myself to be in your presence,
One with you, Abba, Father.
Abba, that relationship
I pray will never end.
Thank you, Father
For leading me to
The way,
The truth
And the life
With you
Through your Son, Jesus.
Amen.
Discussion:
MEET ME (pg. 123)
Lord, meet me, set me free.
You know where I’ve been, you know of my sin.
And although you know, you continue to show
That I am your child with a love so mild.
Lord, you met me when I could not see
Beyond my sight, what I thought was right.
You met me in the dirt of my earthly hurt.
My life you did raise so that you I could praise.
Finally found, hearing your sound,
The whisper of your spirit, loud enough that I did hear it.
You met me in uncharted seas with the waves washing over me
And calmed the storms in a life forlorn.
My Morning Prayer:
Meet me, Lord, every day
As I lift my head from my bed.
Help me to pray that each new day
I hear you before rising to my feet.
You, Lord, are my anchor,
You are my healer,
You are my redeemer,
My hope,
My joy.
You, Lord,
Are my everything.
Without you, Lord, I am nothing.
With you I can be everything
You want me to be,
Everything that you have for me.
My Evening Prayer:
May my life be as unleavened bread,
Without the yeast as the world serves it,
So when we meet I can hear the words said,
Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Discussion:
I HAVE NOTHING (pg. 151)
I have nothing to add to the word of God.
I have nothing to add to his love for me.
I have nothing to offer to make me worthy.
I have nothing to add to God’s rhymes.
That is true, but . . .
I can believe in His word.
I can accept his love for me.
I can accept that through Jesus I am worthy.
I can become one of God’s rhymes.
I can offer my life to God.
I can spread the Good News of salvation.
I can be a reflection of his love.
I can share the end of the Christmas story.
I have nothing on my own to give to God,
But with God I have everything to give.
I have every reason to live for him.
I have hope for life eternal with him.
I have nothing until I have God in my life,
Until I accept the atoning...
