Race Coverage:

Ruta Del Sol

Stage 1 - Fulgsang and Landa go solo - Strade style uphill finish through the city - Winner Fulgsang

Stage 2 - Fast descent 90+ kph leads over a bridge into an uphill finish - Caja Rujal rider goes in the last 750m and holds off the bunch (local knowledge) - Winner Gonzalo Serrano

Stage 3 - Late catch of the break in last 3 km - leaders start to make moves (tuens, landa, fulgsang, haig, izaguirre) Tight corners through city and tuens takes haig into the corner. Mcnulty comes up strong with 3rd behind Fulgsang and Bilbao - Winner Fulgsang

Stage 4 - Haig, Fulgsang, Landa and McNulty strongest of the race go off together. McNulty dropped (too aggressive). Winner - Haig wins 3 up sprint

Stage 5 - Tuens wins the TT just ahead of Fulgsang, Landa shits the bed (fuglsang, haig, landa overall)

Takeaways - Fulgsang is on fire, see if he can hold that over the season. Landa needs to work on his TT but still looks strong, Haig turning into a good stage racer and McNulty steadily improving

Volta Algarve

Stage 1 - Wellens tries to go, MVDP working for teammates - Winner - Jakobsen the strongest

Stage 2 - Steady climb to the finish and in the last 750m evenepoel rockets away, schachman looking strong but waited just too long to close and barely misses the sprint. 3rd place D martin (such a terrible suffer face) - Winner Evenepoel

Stage 3 - Sprint stage - Winner - Cees Bol goes long and other sprinters can’t out power him

Stage 4 - Steep finish - Joao almeda working well for evenepoel (mtn domestique on a classics team) and schachman also strong. Ineos riders look terrible, thomas dropped early. Superman Lopez breaks in the last 500m and holds off the rest - Winner MAL

Stage 5 - Evenepoel beats Dennis, solid TT from MAL (3rd overall) and same time for Schacmann who moves to 2nd overall - WInner Evenepoel

Takeaways - Evenepoel has won both stage races he’s ridden this year and crushed both TT’s. Schacmann looks great for ardennes style races, MAL looking good and must have worked on his TT, terrible TT for D Martin (no changes) and Ineos look bad in general

Tour Alps

Quintana takes stage stage win and overall, quietly showing renewed form. Early smaller race but included Pinot, Bardet, and Porte
