With a degree in Communication Studies and Certified Professional Coach credential from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), Raina Sweeney is poised to take your life to the next level. Not only has she studied what makes people go from status quo to thriving in all aspects of life, she has lived it herself. For the majority of her teen years and all the way through her 20's Raina struggled with self-acceptance, self-love, and compassion which showed up as mental health issues, self-sabotage, and never thinking she was worthy of her many accomplishments. She felt she was living someone else's life. Happiness was fleeting and joy was nowhere to be found. She searched everywhere for answers and slowly began to uncover what true joy was all about. Now, after homing in on this practice, she has made it her life's journey to share what she has learned first hand with the world.
In this episode we talk about how Raina overcame mental health challenges, two suicide attempts, and years of negative self-talk. She shares from her personal experience what she's learned from these painful experiences and her gratitude for them. Other topics that we discuss are depression, anxiety, suicide, and how to have those deep and necessary conversations. These conversations can decrease the stigma of mental health struggles and increase connection with ourselves and others. We also explore self-care and how it relates to mental health. Throughout our time together Raina encourages us to dig deeply, honestly, and objectively in order to forgive ourselves, accept who we are, and transform our pain into joy.
