This week’s episode is Part 2 of a 2-part series on Ignoring Bad Advice.
I didn’t know when I recorded episode 96 that I’d get another example of “bad advice” the very next day on a coaching call —
but I did — and I wanted you all to have the same info that I gave my client.
The same way “feel the fear and do it anyway” is terrible advice because asks that you ignore your instincts and intuitions —
“fake it ’till you make it” is equally (if not more so!) bad advice because you may put others (inadvertently, perhaps) at risk.
What do I mean? Okay — so, if you are new at a job — you are new. You are not experienced yet, nor are you an expert.
And that is alright! But don’t pretend to be something you’re not —
that will always backfire because your brain and body aren’t connected and you will know that you are lying.
and lying feels bad.
