Peter Thiel and Palantir

Peter Thiel’s company Palantir is under fire for supplying powerful data-mining tools to government agencies like ICE and the Pentagon, fueling fears of mass surveillance and privacy violations. Critics say the technology can track social media, location data, and even DNA, raising civil liberties concerns. Thiel’s political ties and Palantir’s secretive contracts leave many wondering if Americans’ personal data is safe—or up for grabs.

Schumer Renames Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer forced a name change on President Trump’s flagship budget reconciliation package—officially striking “One Big Beautiful Bill” moments before the Senate vote under the Byrd Rule

He derided the legislation as the “Big Ugly Betrayal,” arguing it will strip health insurance from millions and balloon the federal debt

After the renaming, the measure passed on a narrow 51–50 vote, with Vice President Vance casting the tiebreaking vote

ActBlue Busted

House Republicans have issued subpoenas to top ActBlue officials— including a senior workflow specialist and former VP of customer service—amid allegations of “widespread fraud” on the Democratic fundraising platform, citing nearly 1,900 dubious transactions during the 2024 cycle

The allegations point to relaxed fraud safeguards—CVV checks weren’t required until January 2024—and contributions traced to foreign IP addresses and prepaid cards

Meanwhile, a parallel DOJ probe was launched by President Trump via executive order on April 24, and ActBlue has pushed back, accusing Republicans of a partisan “attack on democracy”

Alligator Alcatraz

A new ICE detention center—dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz”—has opened on an old airfield deep in the Florida Everglades, utilizing natural swampland wildlife as a deterrent to escape attempts

President Trump, joined by Gov. DeSantis and Secretary Noem, toured the site, billed as a model for future high-security, low-cost migrant housing, touting its quick nine‑day construction for up to 5,000 beds

Environmentalists, tribal leaders, and rights groups have sharply criticized the effort, calling it a cruel stunt that threatens fragile ecosystems and tribal lands, and have filed lawsuits to block further development.
