Most of us are familiar with the parable of the prodigal son. It’s the story of us… when we came to our senses and came back to the Father in repentance, right? It’s a story about the lost becoming saved. The wretched being forgiven. It is all of this, of course.

That’s the way we’ve been taught this timeless parable of our Lord in Sunday school, and then later in Church by most pastors.

But when we take the time to read the story, study it, and consider how most Christians lead their lives, we notice something very peculiar - even troubling. 

There seems to be something we’re missing about this story - something vital. And there is!
