Episode 30 | ADHD-Friendly Advent Day 7
We're on day seven of our ADHD Friendly Advent study, and wow, what a week it has been! I’m Rachel, your host, and I’m here to remind you that whether this is your first day or you’ve been with me from the start, you’re exactly where you need to be. This study is all about being low effort but high impact, and I hope you’re finding it enriching. Today, we’re diving deep into Luke 1:1-38, a passage that sets the stage for the incredible story of Jesus’ birth and the faith journeys of Zechariah and Mary.
As we read through the scripture, I want to highlight how both characters respond to God’s messages. Zechariah, despite his religious standing and years of devotion, expresses doubt when the angel visits him. In contrast, Mary, a young girl with little experience, asks questions but ultimately submits with faith. This contrast is so powerful — it shows that faith is not about our past experiences or societal status but about our willingness to trust God in the present moment. I encourage you to reflect on this as we listen to 'Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel,' which beautifully echoes our anticipation and longing for God’s presence.
As we conclude week one, let’s journal about the attributes of God we see reflected in the scripture. I believe that even in our imperfections, like stumbling over words while reading, we can find beauty in our authenticity. Remember, the journey of faith is ongoing — it’s about continuous growth and learning, no matter where we are on our path. I’m excited to see what next week brings, and I hope you are too! Let's continue to encourage one another as we explore these themes further.
