A few weeks back, we had a conversation about youth ministry where we ostensibly shat all over it. Feeling that we left a lot on the table, Blair Wilner wanted to take us to task for the things we said. Blair, a University of Virginia PhD student of religious studies, is currently celebrating the 11th anniversary of his liberation from the world of youth ministry, and finds himself in the ironic position of defending it. But even with his defensive stance, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Blair has some criticisms of his own specifically for Young Life and their theology of human sexuality. So youth group: good or bad? Guess it’s up to you to decide!
