Thank you for joining us for our five days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is Day 802 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little bit of additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Daniel J. Boorstin, and it is, “Books are the main source of our knowledge, our reservoir of first faith, memory, wisdom, morality, poetry, philosophy, history and science.”

Reading and the study of books is the fundamental source and foundation of knowledge. It has been verified over and over that those who are avid readers advance faster and farther in all areas of life. With today’s technological breakthroughs and access to thousands of resources on the internet for little or no cost, there is little reason not to consume books on a regular basis.
Books can be consumed on a variety of devices from smartphones, to tablets, to computers, and in audio format, which allows you to perform another task while listening to great content. Here are some practical ways that I have found successful in maintaining a steady habit of reading or listening to a variety of information.
I listen to my Bible reading, devotional materials, emails, and podcast while I exercise first thing in the morning. Since I work at my computers throughout the day, many days for up to 12 hours, I am able to consume vast amounts of information about a variety of subjects. I also listen to many audio books while driving, working outdoors, cooking dinner each night, and renovating the various rooms inside our home.
