In this episode of This Week in HRV, Matt Bennett explores five recent studies that deepen our understanding of heart rate variability as a marker of autonomic regulation across endocrine health, sleep physiology, theoretical neuroscience, extreme environmental exposure, and performance nutrition. 1. Comparative Analysis of Heart Rate Variability in Women with and Without Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

This study examined resting heart rate variability in women with and without PCOS. Women with PCOS showed reduced HRV, reflecting diminished parasympathetic modulation and altered autonomic balance. 2. Autonomic Characteristics of Periodic Limb Movements: Comparison of Whole-Night and Stage N2 Linear and Non-Linear Heart Rate Variability
