1.  Don’t Be a Snob

• The Rich Visitor - Power, Prestige, Position
• The Ragged Visitor - Powerless, Pitiable, Poor

“Teacher, which is the
great commandment in the law?” "Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your
mind.’ "This is the first and great commandment "And the second is like
it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ "On these two
commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 22:36–40

“Consider
your own calling, brothers.  Not many of you were wise by human
standards, not many of you were powerful, not many of you were of noble
birth.  Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong” 1 Corinthians
1:26-27

2.  Don’t Be a Judge

• Judgments lead to evil intentions
• Judgments should not be made on appearance
• Judgment of world reserved for God – Psalm 9:8
• Judgment of believers can fall on the church – 1 Corinthians 5:1, 11-13

3.  Don’t Be Fooled

• God is no respecter of persons
  "For there is no partiality with God.” Romans 2:11
• God has a plan for the poor
• The one you honor today may oppress you tomorrow
• Showing favoritism is a sin
