Listen

Description

Sometimes in order to see you have to close your eyes. This is what my father taught me when I was about 12 and I first started paying attention the music he was playing on the sound system at home. Charlie Parker was pouring through the speakers in our small apartment and quite frankly was driving me insane.
‘How can you listen to this, sounds like cacophony. You can’t keep beat, I just don’t get it...’ I was complaining.
‘Every instrument has a story to tell,’ my dad said. ‘Close your eyes and listen.’

My dad introduced me to jazz, imagination, and creativity. He encouraged to me push boundaries, redefine ideas, and search for balance, and harmony. For this episode of Cooking High I asked him to put together an hour of his favorite jazz tunes and few days later I found a link in my mailbox.
