James Carman Kirby, an exquisite artist, magician, and Setian that I am honored to call my friend and teacher. He’s also something of a Mountain Man in my book. He lives in wilds of the Yukon in western Canada, where he does metalworking, sculpture carving, and various other creations from jewelry to statuary. He is also the founder of the Pack – an Order of the Temple of Set which explores and highlights the 'wolfish' aspects of initiation. He is also the architect of the the cool steam-punk looking medallions incorporating a design by Komodokat and worn by members of the Esoteric Order of Beelzebub and holds an honorary membership in that Order.
Then something unexpected happened...something no one can ever be fully prepared for. In early August of 2017, James was informed by his doctor that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and only 2-4 weeks to live. Suddenly a lot of things changed; but some things didn’t change, in fact they started to grow STRONGER.
We discuss the process that got him to this point, and the vision that will guide him beyond in this one-of-kind discussion.
The photo for this episode is from James and me together at the Kutna Hora just outside of Prague, a moment we refer to momentarily in the conversation. Looking at this pic there I realize there is no way we are not in a band together at some point in the Universe.
