Description

In 1970, when I was living here in India, I met some Christians, very very devout and they gave me a very rare version of the Bible. The St. Thomas version of the Bible, written by one of the personal associates of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I remember one statement of Lord Jesus in that book, that affected me a lot. He said, “This world is a bridge, cross over it, but build no house upon it”. But people are going to the churches begging the God to give them a better house.

That the great souls, they aspire for the spiritual world. That is the ultimate perfection. They don’t want to try to find happiness in this material world, which is a miserable place because everything is temporary. The soul is eternal. It can find no real satisfaction in the temporary enjoyments of this world. Whether you die of a catastrophe or whether you get old, diseased and die, its suffering. Have you even studied what happens in old age? It’s really miserable.
