Description

On this day of New Year's is a time to really reflect, to renew our vows, to make resolutions that we will we will interpret our past, apply in the present and move in the future. In such a way that we're moving toward the light of Krishna’s grace. In the story of Jagai and Madhai and so many others, when we suffer darkness, we can have a greater appreciation of light. In this last year, most of us probably have loved ones who have been ill or who have died. Economically there's so much uncertainty; politically, so much unrest; racially, so many upheavals and individually, so many are locked down, isolated. Like everything, it will pass, the good times pass and the hard times pass. As Srila Prabhupada’s dear son, George Harrison said “All things must pass.” But how are we growing as they're passing? That is the real question in our life. When we hear from the great saints and from the scriptures, we establish faith in a goal in life. The greatest goal is not just to have better resources in a world where we will soon die, it is not liberation, salvation from suffering forever. The very essence of the Vedic literatures and all great scriptures is the greatest goal is ‘premā pumartho mahān’, to awaken the love that is dormant within us, to awaken our true potential as spirit souls.
