The problem is, if you just hear eagerly, very intensely and then your desires start being fulfilled and then you get distracted. You think “actually I am very empowered, my life is better than as ever been, I was basically just nothing before becoming a devotee. And just see what hearing of Srimad Bhagvatam has done for me? Now I am intelligent, people respect me, and now people give me respect. I have all kinds of nice facilities to enjoy” and then we stop reading Srimad Bhagvatam. Then what happens? Because you stop reading it but you have already attracted the mercy of Krishna, Krishna will not let you to go, he will not allow you to be content with that material life. Somehow or other he will bring you back in taking shelter of Srimad Bhagvatam in this life or the next, through the agencies of his multi various agencies. We have seen people come to Krishna consciousness, sincerely chant the holy names, hear Srimad Bhagvatam, they get extraordinary merit, wealth, fame, longevity, the objects of their desires are being fulfilled but then the very benediction of Srimad Bhagvatam divert their attention away from the Bhagvatam and they enjoy all of these benediction for sometime. But then they suffer, then they smashed and then, ultimately they come back to Srimad Bhagvatam looking for something else. However, if we just consistently are eager to her Srimad Bhagvatam, we lose the desire for these things because that’s practically what every page of Srimad Bhagvatam is telling us. We read about Hiranyaksha in this chapter, the benediction is given. He had all these things but he was a miserable creature and ultimately died a glorious death in the hands of the Lord. Throughout Srimad Bhagvatam we read about how nothing can satisfy soul except pure devotional service. So, Krishna is so expert he promises you anything and then he gives you what you really want.
