Thakur Narottam explains, “What is the qualification to understand what is Vrindavan”? When there is no selfishness within our heart, where there is no ulterior motive except the pleasure of the Lord, we chant the holy names with this goal in mind, we read the scriptures with this goal in mind, we serve the vaisnavas, worship the deities, perform our activities in devotional service, raise our families, everything is with this goal in mind. This is the special contribution of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Srila Prabhupada, when he came to the west, he said, “There are so many religious societies. We are not coming to just give another religion. The specific special purpose of the Hare Krishna movement is to teach the principle of pure, unmotivated, uninterrupted, unadulterated devotional service in love of God”.
