Description

When Srila Prabhupada explained that I am simply trying to carry out the order of my spiritual master Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati Thakur asked him to teach the message of Lord Chaitanya to the whole world in the English language selflessly. He gave every element of his body and his life and even in his passing from this world to satisfy his guru. He was not concerned with happiness and distress for himself, he was only concerned with the satisfaction of guru yasya prasadad bhgavat prasado yasya prasadan nagati ku to pi. By the mercy of guru one gets the mercy of Krishna, without the mercy of guru one cannot get the mercy of Krishna. Why? Because the Guru is the servant of the servant of Srimati Radharani who was Krishna's mercy potency. Srila Prabhupada explained I see all of you of representatives of my Guru Maharaja.
In his prayers on Jaladuta where he's praying that let me be a puppet, make me dance as you want me to dance. He's showing us the spirit of one who is actually following in the footsteps of gopis, one who's actually emulated the spirit of a pure soul, one who is actually following in the footsteps and getting the complete mercy of Srimati Radharani. That is bhakti, that is devotion. When we chant the holy names we are praying to Sri Radha and Krishna. We are praying that they engage us in their service. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu taught us how we should pray. Trinadaooi sunichena taroriva sahishnuna amanina manadena kirtaniya sada hari. This is following in the footsteps of gopis, to be humble like a blade of grass, to be tolerant like tree, to be ready to offer all respect to others and to expect not in return. In this way we can constantly chant the holy names for the pleasure of Radha Gopinath. nadhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam va jagadisha kamaye mama janmani janmanishvare bhavatat bhaktir ahaituki tvayi.
Lord Chaitanya is Radha and Krishna he's teaching us these verses. This is what it means to follow in the footsteps of gopis. This is the path to braj, to approach the Lord in this spirit, I do not want wealth, I do not want beautiful company of the opposite sex, I do not want followers prestige or fame, I do not even liberation from suffering. My only desire is to unconditionally serve you birth after birth after birth. This bhakti following in the footsteps of the great acharyas in the mood of the instrument of their mercy is the essence of our philosophy because in that spirit we can constantly chant the holy names in love. This is the process of how to please Krishna.
