This morning we are talking about money and God's heart for us about money. A uncomfortable subject to present. In Leviticus Abraham was suppose to offer Isaac as a burnt offering, fully consumed. On one hand we how God blesses us and on the other we are constantly worried about our finances. Realized that we object to giving to the church because they just want your money, then realize we have no problem give to Starbucks who really only wants your money.
The top five worries identified from an international German survey from 22 countries: 5) The amount of work to get done in the day; 4) Not having time to do the things they want to do; 3) Not having enough sleep; 2) The pleasure of other people to get work done for money; 1) Not having enough money to live on.
The top five worries for people with a net worth of $1mm or more: 5) Kids; 4) Economic and terrorist threats from the outside world; 3) The amount of money they have to live on; 2) Not getting enough sleep; 1) The amount of work to get done in a day. Doesn’t matter if your rich or pour, the same top issues effect us all. We haven unhealthy relationship with money.
God's wish for you are: 1) We will have freedom from anxiety Matt 6:31-33. We should freedom from stress for the need for money. 2) Mathew 19:16-22, Freedom from slavery that comes from money. 3) The freedom from the myth of independence, Deuteronomy 8:12-18. ""Beware lest you say in your heart, "My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth".
Jesus told the rich young ruler to give all his wealth away to the poor and follow Him. What we do is give up to the point where it doesn't hurt. God wants us to give beyond where it hurts, just as He did.
