Phil. 1:6 For I am confident in this: He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ.
1. Paul is Confident in God. Where does Paul get such confidence? 2 Cor 11:23-29 "1 more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments..." It is out of Paul's trials, difficulties, and hardships that his confidence was made rock hard.
2. Paul's confidence in God's good work. What is the good work of God that Paul is referring to? Birthing and development of the church. Development of people. God's beginning of the church. Grace and love established for all to see and experience. The church has grown. A Good Work. Acts 16:14; God's good work of salvation is revealed. A church with leaders.
3. Are we changing, maturing developing and consciously working in partnership with God? Or have we become lovers of this age? John 2:16. God will perfect his work until the day of Christ Jesus. Paul's confident is from his experiences with God, not from his own abilities or past achievements. God can be relied upon to complete what he began.
God's great love for us. God is working in us, not done yet. We are responsible to never stop growing till the day Jesus returns.
