Description

God's promises in the Christmas story: For with God, nothing can be impossible. Let it be according to your word. There are three Promises:
1) The coming of Jesus, the Davinical Kingdom, and the establishment of His eternal reign. Luke 1:31-33.
2) The fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14, in Luke 1:30. God remembered His promises by providing His Son, birthed to a virgin. Provides new birth for us all.
3) Living as favored one Luke 1:37; The things we thought we knew, we now see afresh. God sent Gabriel to Bethlehem. Being a virgin without being married meant a sentence of death. Mary was greatly troubled by the greeting, "O favored one", not the angle. It's troubling for us to think of ourselves a favored ones. We live like people who have to work for it. Let it be to me according to Your Word.

Our Amen:
Luke 1:36 "Let it be to me according to your Word"; Mary believed that she would be the fulfillment of God's purpose.
Luke 1:45 "And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord."
