Description

"Jonadab the son of Recabite shall never lack a man to stand before me." They would not drink the wine, live in tents, or own a vineyard all of their days. "I have spoken to you consistently but you have not listened." Because Jonadab's sons and grandson's listened they will never lack a man to stand before God. Jonadab lived 250 years before his dependences responded that they would follow God. He was a Recabite, not a descendant of Abraham. "Jonadab would never lack a descendant to stand before God" and will stand before God refers to: 1) member of the priesthood; 2) was a faithful worshipers come to worship God; 3) The ability God gives people to endure or withstand in difficult time. Their was the promise God gave Jonadab. He will always have someone in his family to faithfully worship God.

Jonadab trusted God when circumstances said otherwise. The lived in a period of Jewish lawlessness, but Jonadab continued to trust God beyond the current circumstances.

Jonadab parented from the heart. -- Jonadab's heart followed God, ready to do what it takes to be faithful. The heart is where it's at.

Jonadab created standards in order to preserve his family. We are going to live differently. Don't drink wine meant to party with Bail. "Don't have vineyards" was a statement of not to flaunt your wealth. "Don't have a home" meant not to live on someone else land. Jonadab's family began outside the covenant; he was not Jewish, but he wanted to follow God and my families follow God. What will our spiritual legacy be for our families?
