Judging God's Will for Your Life; Not going to Morton's anytime soon, unless it's free? Judge by scripture.
"Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words become to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts." Jer. 15:16. We judge by way of our community of faith. Different between the bible and every other holly book: Every other book was produced by one man; the Bible was developed by a community. 2 Tim 3:16: "All scripture is inspired by God." I am a picture that is off, God comes in to correct it.
When God speaks, it generally sounds like these:
It is simple (1 Kings 19:15-16) It makes sense out of a puzzling situation.
It Involves some kind of repentance ( Isa. 55:8-9) Shifting from how I thing to the way God thinks. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts." I'm not even kind of living the way I should be. His thinking goes outside of my own thinking. It is counter intuitive.
It leads to trusting Him more (Matt. 14:29). If I had peace and prosperity, I would trust God less; not God's will. No "If I..." Just be still. Involves a step of faith. Walk on the water. There will be an element that will cause a little in trepidation. If it leads to peace, there is something wrong.
It builds up (Jer. 24:6) I will build them up, not tear them down. Look for the Promus of restoration.
It gives only the next step (Gen. 12:1) "Go to the land I will show you." I pray for my blue print of Christianity. But my job is just "to go." Promus proceeds direction.
It is outward focused (Gen. 12:2) There must be a blessing toward others. Involved the building of His kingdom "Seek first the kingdom of God"; (Matt 6:33). When someone said that the Lord said such and such, you will know if it is true. "My sheep hear my voice and they know me and I know them."
