Mary Midgett who likes to be called Midgett. Born an raised n Boston Massachusetts. She is the first Generation from Trinidad British West Indies where her parent migrated from.
She arrived in San Francisco August 21, 1974 from Manhattan New York. She began teaching the second week of her arrival. Her visible career in the gay and lesbian started as a board member at Acceptance house 2 weeks after her arrival. a Women's support group an the Women's building. A lesbian Introduction service emerged from that event.
She was co founder of many African American men and women's organizations. Counselor in half way houses for a decade. Author of two book, and columnist at www.thewesternediton.com This history culminated with her receiving the Freedom award in the Pride parade n 2015.
