What Is Faith? (Not!)
Faith is not a head-in-the-sand and denying the obvious
Faith is not anti-intellectual.
Faith is not a stained-glass, dreamy escapism.
Faith is not some motivational seminar with self-relaxation and self-confidence…
Faith is not a power of positive mental attitude thing.

Vs. 11 – By faith even Sarah herself received the ability to conceive
Vs. 17 – By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac
Vs. 21 – By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph

Vs. 32 - Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets
And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, (33) who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, (34) quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.

Luke 10:38-42 Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. (39) And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. (40) But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me." (41) But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, (42) but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."
