Genesis gives foundation for doctrine:
• Sin, the fall, redemption, justification.
• The promise of the Messiah and Jesus Christ.
• The personality and personhood of God.
• The kingdom of God.
Genesis explains origin of:
• The universe.
• Order and complexity.
• The solar system.
• The atmosphere and hydrosphere.
• Life, man, marriage.
• Good and evil.
• Language, government, culture, nations, religion.

Genesis 1:28 NASB God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
1. Subdue it - “cultural mandate”
Manage it – not worship it
Harness it
Study and Research it (Proverbs 25:2)
Use it for man's benefit - not abuse it

a) Chapter 1 – scope of Creation (wide-angle)
b) Chapter 2 – focus on Creation of man
c) Focus on Day 6 – not conflicting accounts
d) Beginning of human history – focus on mankind
2. Day Seven of Creation
a) Done! God rested – work was complete
b) Blessed and sanctified the work
c) 7 repeated 3X – to be full or complete
d) Pattern for our human work cycle
e) Sabbath came later, but related to creation week
