Saved is a Biblical word that covey this truth :
I Tim 1:15 “ Christ Jesus came into the world to SAVE sinners”
Luke 19:10 “ the Son of Man came to seek and SAVE that which was lost”
John 10:9 “ I Am the door, by Me if anyone enters, he will be SAVED”
Acts 4:12 “ No other name, whereby we must be SAVED”
Ephesians 2:8 “ By grace you are SAVED through faith, not of yourselves”
Romans chapter 8 : 1-3 / 10-15 / 18-23
Romans 8 speaks of 3 ways we have been Saved
1. We have been saved from the PENALTY of SIN
• 8:1 “ there is now no condemnation
• It was the law that condemned us
• God sent his Son to bear our condemnation
2. We are being saved from the POWER of SIN Rom 8: 11, 13,15
• The spirit that raised up Jesus dwells in us, and gives us life (spiritual)
• We are not under bondage / slavery anymore
• We have the power to put to death sin / the deeds of the body
3. We will be saved from the PRESENCE of SIN Rom 8:18,19,23
• V 19 we wait with earnest expectation / eager longing for the Revelation
• V 21 the whole creation itself will be set free from the bondage of corruption”
• V 23 we groan, as we wait eagerly for the redemption of our bodies – WE WILL BE DELIVERED
The Doctrine of Being Saved from Sin
1. We have been saved from the PENALTY of SIN – The Doctrine of the CROSS
• The cross is where our sins were dealt with, where Jesus Christ condemned sin in the flesh
• God’s condemnation against sin (for the world) was poured out on Jesus at the cross
• Isaiah 53:10 / John 12:31 / I Peter 2:24 / Romans 5:8 / I Cor 15:3
• He bore our sins, He gave us His righteousness, we are justified, acquitted of guilt,
• Every soul believing in Jesus will never be condemned, never to perish, and never to be ashamed
2. We are being saved from the POWER of SIN – The Doctrine of the RESSURECTION
• We died, were buried and raised with Jesus Christ to walk in new life – Free to have POWER over Sin
• He has won our VICTORY – abolished (destroyed death) hell and the grave – defeated Satan
• Declared the Son of God with POWER, ratified our justification, and guaranteed our resurrection
• His resurrection gives us the assurance of all His promises (the power) live life now – eternal hope
• Rom 1:4 / Roman 4:25/ Heb 2:15/ 2 Tim 1:10 / John 14:19
3. We will be saved from the PRESENCE of SIN- The Doctrine of The SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
• When He comes he will change this vile body to be fashioned like His glorious body – Phil 3:21
• Last enemy to be destroyed is death, this corruption will put on incorruption / immortality I Cor 15:53
• All that are IN CHRIST will be raised / changed / glorified / … at His Coming I Cor 15: 23
