Iswardy Morni, Lawyer Activist cum Political Analysis
*Clearing the name of Najib and UMNO through the Royal Pardon*
Iswardy gave his views on UMNO's efforts to appeal for the release of Najib Razak through a royal pardon with the authority of the King. Iswardy thinks that in the latest political competition - UMNO is lagging far behind PH and PN. One way they think is right to restore UMNO's image is through the release of Najib Razak. With Najib's release, UMNO can campaign that Najib is clean of all wrongdoing and so are other UMNO leaders. Then confidence and support for UMNO will recover. According to Iswardy- UMNO leaders are still plagued by denial syndrome that Najib is innocent. Instead the court and the majority of Malaysians – convinced that Najib is guilty. Therefore. If Najib is released it will give a bad image to the government and judicial institutions. Applying for pardon is Najib's right, but Iswardy thinks it is too early to grant pardon to Najib. Because there are still many court cases that Najib will face in the near future. It would be fairer if the matter of pardoning Najib was thought about/requested after the completion of all the cases he faced.
