*None of Penan appoint as tribal leaders, hope Senator Abun Sui can help them to voice out their problem*
Two weeks ago there was an oath-taking ceremony for the appointment of Kapit District Council (PBT) councillors, and a few months ago there was a new appointment and the extension of the service period of tribal chiefs- penghulu and penmanka in Belaga District. Gereng Jadum felt sad because none of the counselors and tribal leaders were appointed from the Penan Murum tribe. While Penan Murum has many problems.
He said that, If a community leader/counselor is not appointed from among them, How their problems will be able to be expressed. Their problems now are- no schools, no clinics, no roads/roads of logging companies, no Mykad, many children have dropped out of school and most unfortunately we have no source of income. The government that moved them to make way for the construction of the Murum Dam, did not take care of their welfare.
Gereng said that, they were not given lots of agricultural land for farming - food crops were not given. Therefore, they request YB Senator Abun Sui to come and visit them immediately to solve their problem. Because- all these problems they have voiced to YBs from GPS for a long time. But till today they failed to solve our problem. They really hope that Yb Senator will come to visit and see for himself their situation.
