In these 5 months, Anwar has done many reforms and there will be more in the future
SUARAM Executive Director- Sevan Doraisamy thinks Anwar Ibrahim will be the worst prime minister in Malaysian history if he fails to fulfill his reform promises. Doraisami questioned Anwar's political determination. According to Doraisami, it is not yet on the list of laws to be amended by the government; Security Offenses Act (Special Measures), Crime Prevention Act, Terrorism Prevention Act, Dangerous Drugs Act which still have clauses of detaining suspects for a long period of time without having to prosecute them in Court.
Sim asks SUARAM to be rational and give Anwar some time. In these 5 months, Anwar has done many reforms and there will be more in the future. Among them, according to Sim - Parliament Reform - there is a special question and answer session with the Prime Minister (PMT). Abolish the mandatory death penalty in drug cases and establish a special Parliamentary select committee that has full power to summon anyone to testify. Add YB Sim- most importantly, a Law Reform Committee has been established, which is examining outdated laws that need to be amended. According to YB Sim- despite leading the Unity government, there is nothing stopping Anwar from reforming his administration. According to Sim, Anwar carried out reforms in his administration faster than all previous prime ministers, besides Anwar is the prime minister who listens to the voice and welfare of the people the most.
The question is not how quickly outdated laws are amended. But an amendment should be neat, orderly and precise.
