*Controversy Surrounding Larry Sng's Appointment as Chairman of Malaysian Timber Industry Board*
Dennis objected to the appointment of Larry Sng as the Chairman of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB). Larry, who is a Member of Parliament for Julau and the President of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party, was appointed to the position by Deputy Prime Minister Fadilah Yusuf, who oversees the portfolio of the Ministry of Primary Industries.
Dennis asserted that Larry was not qualified for the position because he has never been at the forefront of opposing illegal logging or defending the rights of indigenous people to the forest. Instead, activists such as Peter Kalang or Dr. Ellie Luhat should be appointed to the position because they have proven expertise and understanding of sustainable environmental conservation.
Larry is also not a principled leader. After Pakatan Harapan fell in 2018, he left the People's Justice Party and now infiltrated the PMX administration through an appointment by GPS. If Larry had stayed principled in PKR, he would likely have been a minister by now, said Dennis, not appealing for a position like the Chairman of MTIB.
