Sarawak's leading human rights activist and tireless NGO supremo Nicholas Mujah Asun has been awarded the accolade of Human Rights Defender by the United Nations; a global recognition by no less than the world's highest governing body. No mean achievement, Nicholas' work is now recognised by the world and this recognition is another blow against Sarawak's deplorable track record in failing to adhere to the UN's declaration on human rights. Despite hindrances from the State to allow him to leave Sarawak to receive the award in person at the UN, Nicholas finally got approval after direct intervention by the UN to travel to receive the award. In the Baram, rumblings are becoming thunderous as more and more very unhappy folks are speaking out against their elected representatives, who have lost their tongue and voices in bringing their plight to the attention of the powers-that-be. Rumour has it that the reps themselves are beginning to have shivers down their respective spines as their days are beginning to get numbered as their constituents are now finally realising that the Baram Dam will literally drown them all out.

Kita cukup berbangga mempunyai aktivis hak asasi manusia yang cukup terkenal di Sarawak iaitu Nicholas Mujah Asun yang baru-baru ini telah menerima Anugerah dari United Nation dalam usaha beliau bersama-sama aktivis lain sama-sama berjuang mempertahankan Hak Asasi Manusia. Sebelum ini beliau tidak dibenarkan samasekali untuk keluar Negara tetapi atas sokongan United Nation maka beliau telah dibenarkan semula untuk melawat ke luar Negara.
Suara anak muda Baram dengan lantang sekali mempertikaikan ADUN Telang Usan dan MP untuk Baram yang menyokong pembinaan empangan Baram sedangkan mereka sendiri berasal dari kawasan berkenaan. Kebanyakan penduduk disana tidak membenarkan empangan ini berlaku kerana ianya akan menengelamkan sebahagian besar Tanah pusaka mereka. Beliau menyeru rakyat di Baram bangkit untuk menumbangkan BN pada pilihan raya negeri yang akan datang.
