Tru Loved tells the story of a teenage daughter of lesbian mothers, Tru struggles as an outsider at her new high school in a conservative So. California town until high school quarterback Lodell takes an interest in her. The film traces their emerging friendship, her efforts to begin a gay-straight alliance at her school, and her eventual true romance. This film maturely explores the universal themes of social justice, acceptance and love.
