As we come to Chapter 7, we enter the world of the apocalyptic. Apocalyptic literature is not doom and gloom. The overarching idea is that God is revealing something to Daniel (and us) so that he can see what’s going on, but also to give him hope. We are reminded that God is presently on the throne and that He will ultimately triumph.
