Today, Shannon speaks with Gerry and Janet Souter about their book, Selling Americans on America - Journey into a Troubled Nation. The book is a historical account of a little-known chapter in American history: The Freedom Train. America was in a crippled state following World War II, and the Freedom Train toured the country, displaying 130 original documents and irreplaceable objects - from the National Archives, Library of Congress and private collections - that helped build our nation, establish and defend our Freedom values, patriotism and unity. The train was guarded by United States Marines and helped to unite Americans behind a renewed mission of civic engagement.
Our Lives with Shannon Fisher explores personal, political, and societal perspectives of the American experience. The show delves deeply into the worlds of writers, artists, celebrities, and community leaders and offers listeners food for thought on ways to better themselves and the world around them.
