Description

Heart disease is the top cause of death amongst men and women, and a leading contributor in many illness and health problems - but what can we do to combat it? Many doctors and medical advisers are taking a functional approach to health and integrating nutrition, supplements and activity with traditional pharmaceutical-based treatments.

In this week's episode, we speak to Dr. Anna Cabeca about the upcoming Healthy Heart Summit and the importance of lifestyle in managing health. Many health problems, especially those related to aging and in particular for women's health, can be targeted through the simple principle of 'stop something, start something.

In other words, you make one positive change in your lifestyle at the same time as stopping a negative behavior. Over time, these small changes - such as cutting out sugar and gluten or taking up walking - will start to make a big difference to your overall health.

We also discuss the importance of sexual health and wellbeing, and how sexual problems could be indicative of a broader disorder or illness. Dr. Anna tells us about her 'Sexier, Younger You' program and the ways that women can really focus on their health through their lifestyles and attitudes, reducing stress, fatigue and other symptoms as well as impacting illnesses. Through nutrition and supplements, you could find yourself reducing your reliance on traditional medicines. Links for further reading:
