Nach längerem Suchen habe ich es nun endlich geschafft, mit Dan Masquelier in Kontakt zu kommen. Sein Album Wake up habe ich schon vor etwa einem Jahr auf Jamendo gefunden. Als ich Ihn jedoch fragen wollte, ob ich einige der Songs dieses Albums hier im freemusicpodcast vorstellen darf und ein kleines Interview mit ihm führen wollte, merkte ich, dass er keine Kontaktdaten auf Jamendo hinterlassen hatte. Wie also sollte ich ihm eine Mail schicken?
Okay, schnell nach Dan Masquelier gegoogelt und herausgefunden, dass ein gewisser Dan Masquelier Mitglied in diversen “social networking sites” ist. Von den meisten hatte ich bisher noch nie gehört. Also habe ich die Mühe auf mich genommen und mich bei Stumble upon, Last FM, LinkedIn etc. angemeldet und angefangen Dan Masquelier zu meinen Freunden hinzuzufügen um ihm endlich eine Nachricht schicken zu können. (Spätestens hier begann ich daran zu zweifeln, dass “social networking sites” irgendwas mit “sozial” zu tun haben. Eigentlich machen Sie es einem eher regelrecht schwer soziale Kontakte aufzubauen). Irgendwie hat das aber nicht geklappt, vielleicht weil Dan dieses ”’social’ networking sites” genau so hasst wie ich, vielleicht, weil die Dan Masqueliers die ich angeschrieben hatte, dann doch ganz jemand anders waren.
Als ich mir neulich seinen Song “Summer is a blonde girl” wieder einmal anhörte und dem Sommer beim Blonde-Mädchen-Lächeln-Lassen zusah, musste ich einfach nochmal versuchen, ihn zu kontaktieren und siehe da: er hat jetzt eine prima Webseite, in deren Mitte schön groß seine E-mail Adresse prangt. Na also:
Torsten: “Hello Dan, Ich bin echt froh, dass ich endlich Deine E-mail Adresse herausgefunden habe. Deine Webseite http://www.danmasq.com/ gibt’s noch nicht so lange, oder?”
Dan: “Hey Torsten, (cooler Name übrigens!) Ja, die Seite habe ich erst Anfang des Jahres eingerichtet, als Online-Lebenslauf. Das hat mir schon jede Menge Internet-Jobs eingebracht =] ”

Danke Dan, für das Interview und die Musik ich bin dann mal auf die neuen Aufnahmen gespannt und frage mich natürlich ob diese auch unter einer freien Lizenz veröffentlicht werden.

After searching for days and days I finally made it to get in contact with Dan Masquelier. I had found his album Wake up about one year ago on Jamendo. When I wanted to ask him that time if I may introduce one of the songs of that album here in the freemusicpodcast and to give me an interview, I realized that he had not left any contact information there. So how on earth should I write an e-mail to him? Okay, I did some googeling for “Dan Masquelier” and came to find, that a certain person of that name is member in a huge variety of social networking sites. Most of those sites I never heard of before. So I took the pains and registered at Stumble upon, Last FM, LinkedIn etc. In order to be able to send him a message I had of course to add Dan Masquelier to my friends. So I did (and started to doubt that social networking sites have something to do with the term “social”, as they make it rather hard to just build social contacts). Anyhow it didn’t all work out, maybe due to the bad vibrations I developed after it took me one hour to sign in, create a profile the site agreed with, add Dan to my friends and send him a message, maybe because the Dan I had written to was a totally different guy or whatever.
But when I just recently listened to the song “Summer is a Blonde Girl” – the fourth track on Dan Masqueliers album – and watched the summer and remembered that beautiful blonde girl who was smiling at me just the other night at the dancefloor of the GrooveStation here in Dresden, so when all these things came together I just had to give it a try again – not that girl (at least not yet – I will see her again I bet) but to get in contact with the singer of that cool song. And lo and behold: suddenly his website appeared, showing his e-mail adress in big letters right in the middle of it. So then:
Torsten:”Hello Dan, I’m so happy to have finally found your e-mail adress. The http://www.danmasq.com/ ist not so long around yet, is it?”
Dan: “Hey Torsten, (by the way, cool name!)
Yeah just earlier this year I posted the site as an online resume. It’s scored me a lot of web work =] ”
