Das ist mal wieder schöne Frickel-Mugge. Sie stammt vom dritten Album von I am this und sie erinnert mich hier und da etwas an Notwist, an anderen Stellen auch mal an DJ Shadow.
Hinter I am this steckt Michael aus Phönix (USA). Was Lizenzen angeht ist er ein ebensolcher Frickler wie beim Musizieren, denn er hat jedes seiner drei bisher veröffentlichten Alben unter eine andere Lizenz gestellt. Während sein erstes Album “adhDJ” noch unter der eher restriktiven Creative Commons-Lizenz NC-Sampling Plus stand, die nur das Bearbeiten und nicht-kommerzielle Verbreiten unter der gleichen Lizenz erlaubt, so hat er sein zweites Album “BLAPP.” bereits unter der Licence Art Libre veröffentlicht, die immerhin eine freie Bearbeitung und auch die kommerzielle Verbreitung erlaubt, solange abgeleitete Werke unter der gleichen Lizenz veröffentlicht werden. Das dritte Album “Spinning into control”, von welchem der hier vorgestellte Track Unfold stammt, hat I am this schließlich unter die Creative Commons-Lizenz Sampling Plus gestellt, mit der auch abgeleitete Werke kommerziell verwendet und unter einer anderen Lizenz verbreitet werden dürfen, sofern der Autor I am this im Zusammenhang mit dem Werk genannt wird.
Michael aka I am this ist sich der vielen Unterschiede zwischen den Lizenzen wohl gar nicht so bewusst, denn auf meine Frage, ob ich einen seiner Tracks hier hochladen und vorstellen darf schrieb er mir:
Michael:”Fühl Dich frei meine Musik hochzuladen und zu nutzen wie Du willst! Ich dachte bisher, dass ich meine ganze Musik bereits zur freien Benutzung freigegeben habe, aber ich werde es jetzt ändern um das geschehen zu lassen. Wie gesagt: fühl Dich frei meine Musik so zu nutzen wie Du es willst.”
Ich bin gespannt, ob und wie Michael von I am this die Lizenzen noch ändern wird.

So this is really some beautifully tricky music. “Unfold” is from the third album of I am this and reminds me here of Nothwist and there of DJ Shadow.
Behind I am this is Michael from Phoenix (USA) and in terms of licences he seems to use a strategy that has some relations to the tricky design of his songs. He licensed each of his albums published so far under a different licence. While his first album “adhDJ” was licensed under the rather restictive Creative Commons-Lizence NC-Sampling Plus, that allows only remixes and non commercial distribution of the songs under the same licence, he published his second album “BLAPP.” under the more liberal Licence Art Libre, that allows others to modify the songs freely and to even use the tracks, remixes or derivative works commercially as long as the author I am this is credited and the same licence is used. His third album “Spinning into control” has Michael published under the Creative Commons-Lizence Sampling Plus, which allows the commercial use of remixed or derivative works of the songs (not of the original songs) as long as the author is credited.
Michael aka I am this doesn’t seem to be fully aware of the slight differences between the licences used by him as he wrote as an answer on my question if I may publish one of his tracks here:
Michael:”Please fel free to upload and use my music as much as you like! I was under the impression that i had made it all free for use but i will try to change whatever i need to make that happen. But yes, feel free to use my music as much as you like.”
I am looking forward if and in what way Michael will change the licences.
