On Sunday, March 3 our senior pastor continued preaching through the Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6:9-13. Focusing on Jesus' use of a familiar term for God--calling him "Father," Pastor Craig challenged us to keep a balance between austerity and irreverence as we seek to be intimate with the holy. The religious leaders of Jesus' day only thought of God as a distant, awesome deity, so when Jesus called him "Father" in the Lord's Prayer it was so innovative. Jesus put before the people (and us) the possibility of knowing God intimately.
