Key Passage: Deuteronomy 11:10–17

In this insightful message, Dr. Wayne Stiles helps us see how the geography of the Bible is more than a backdrop—it’s a teacher of faith. God intentionally placed His people in a land that would test, shape, and strengthen their dependence on Him. By tracing key locations and biblical events, Dr. Stiles reveals how the very landscape of Scripture continues to illustrate timeless spiritual truths.

Dr. Stiles shares five lasting lessons from the lands of the Bible:

  1. God teaches us to walk by faith through settings of lack.
Just as Israel depended on rain from heaven, we learn to trust God as our daily Provider—especially when we face need or uncertainty.
  2. God teaches us to walk by faith through opportunities of influence.
Israel’s position along the International Highway made it a crossroads of nations. Likewise, God places us in strategic relationships and settings to influence others for Him rather than be influenced away.
  3. God teaches us to walk by faith through lessons of contentment.
The tribal allotments in the Promised Land remind us to accept the “lot” God has given us, trusting His placement and provision are best.
  4. God teaches us to walk by faith through recurring places of grace.
Throughout Scripture, recurring places like Moriah, Shechem, the Sea of Galilee, and the Jordan River remind us of God’s repeated acts of mercy, provision, and renewal.
  5. God uses geography to teach theology.
Every valley, mountain, and stream points to deeper truths about God’s faithfulness, provision, and purpose in our lives.

Through these lessons, Dr. Stiles reminds us that the lands of the Bible aren’t just ancient history—they are living illustrations of how God leads His people by faith, provides through His grace, and positions us to make His name known.

Key takeaway:
The same God who shaped the land of Israel shapes our lives—using every place, every challenge, and every opportunity to teach us to trust Him more deeply.
