Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-17

Dr. Wayne Stiles challenges believers to “redeem the time” — to make the most of every opportunity God gives us in the season of life we’re in. Drawing from Paul’s command in Ephesians 5:15–17, Stiles reminds us that time is one of God’s greatest gifts, and how we use it reveals our understanding of His will.

Our lives, he explains, move through seasons—childhood, singleness, marriage, parenting, empty-nesting, and beyond—and each season brings unique opportunities to serve Christ. Too often, we look ahead to the next phase or long for the past, missing the chance to live faithfully in the present. God calls us to live wisely, not wasting time in procrastination or distraction, but walking purposefully in the “good works” He prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10).

Stiles also points to Colossians 4:5-6, reminding believers that redeeming the time includes using every opportunity to share the gospel and disciple others. Whether in youth or retirement, our calling remains the same—to know Christ and make Him known.

Every season of life, he concludes, is designed by God for His purpose. We are not to “downshift into neutral” and coast until the end, but to live intentionally, trusting that God has placed us exactly where we are to glorify Him.

Key Takeaway:

God has sovereignly placed you in this season of life for a reason. Don’t waste it—redeem it. Make the most of today by walking wisely, serving faithfully, and investing your time in eternal things.
