After a drunken conversation at a festival; Deptford Northern Soul Club was formed in September 2016 by lifelong friends William J. Foot and Lewis J. Henderson. Inspired by venues such as Blackpool Mecca and Wigan Casino, their aim was to create a gimmick free Northern Soul night in the cultural centre of the world, Deptford. After the success of the sold out launch night in November 2016, Deptford Northern Soul Club secured a monthly residency at Bunker Club on Deptford Broadway, bringing the sounds of Northern Soul to the next generation. Since November there have been 8 editions of Deptford Northern Soul Club featuring DJs old and young, crowds of veterans and rookies; all dancing under one roof to the best soul music has to offer.
