Bringing the heat with mix number 97 in our series we have Come Up Records’ Elliot! This mix shows off Elliot’s’ diverse taste and mixing talent, and he had this to say about this mix:
“I struggle heavily with overthinking mixes, normally spending months building what I believe to be a cohesive and interesting tracklist only to get down to it and hate everything that I have planned, restarting the lengthy process again and again.
For this mix I scraped this method and just had a mix one day with a very loose idea of where I wanted to start and end up. I then built on this initial mix, filled in any gaps and joined the dots between some of the segments. I prioritised including what I think is interesting music rather than clean blends as I would always much rather get a glimpse of the artists personality by listening to a mix rather than just their skill with a mixer. The final version of this mix still ended up being fairly spontaneous, with most of the selections being made on the day. There are always faults that you can find after recording something like this and changes that you think of in retrospection but I think that this version most truly represents that which I was attempting to create and hopefully gives an insight into what inspires me.”
