John 4:5-30, 39-42
Have you ever been thirsty and had no means to quench that thirst? That is what happened to Jesus that day! It is the first, but not the last time in John’s gospel that Jesus will be thirsty. In chapter 19, as he hangs on the cross, just before breathing his last, our Lord cries out, “I am thirsty.”
